There are many advantages to building and living in a log home. When built properly, a log home is energy-efficient and long-lasting. Like the trees that form the walls, no two log homes or buildings are the same — each has its own rustic beauty and character.

At Cascade Log Homes, we want to help you bring your dream of living in a log home to life. We provide complete custom log home design and building services. Our business is family-owned and operated and is based in Cascade, MT. Each of our homes is custom-designed and handcrafted to our client’s needs and specifications. In addition to our custom log home designs, we also provide log home and building restoration services.

Our Process & Packages

All of our homes are built with hand-picked, full-length logs that are harvested in Montana, Idaho, and Canada. Each log is hand-peeled, scribed, and notched with attention to detail, creating the tightest fit possible. We do not use machinery to process our logs.

Each of our basic packages includes: purchasing the logs, manufacturing the log shell to your plan specifications, shipping the log shell to your foundation site, assisting in the reassembly, and cutting out the door and window openings.

Solutions You Need to Finish Your Home

When you choose Cascade Log Homes to produce your home, you can count on us working closely with you to design and build the exact home you are looking for. We will do as much or as little work on your home as you wish. Some of our clients like to finish their homes themselves. This results in considerable savings, as well as the satisfaction of working on your own home. Others prefer a turn-key operation, contracting the finishing process out to professionals. We can assist in helping you find a qualified contractor for any remaining work on your project.

Log Styles

The style of your logs can give your new home distinctive style and character. We design and build homes with the following log styles:

Full Scribe

The logs are notched on the ends and “V”-notched the entire length of the log. Each log fits tightly on the log below, leaving no gap. Upon assembly, the “V” notch is filled with insulation and caulked.

Montana Homestead Dovetail

The logs are flattened and the ends are dovetailed. The gaps between the logs are filled with “Grip Strip” insulation and chinked.

Chinker

The logs are notched on the ends with the rest of the log left whole. The gaps between the logs are filled with “Grip Strip” insulation and chinked.
